Marilyn DePriest Obituary

    Marilyn Elaine DePriest, age 86, of Lancaster, Kentucky, formerly of Jenkins, Kentucky, passed away at her daughter and son-in-law’s home, surrounded by her family, on Friday, February 7, 2020.  She was born on September 2, 1933 in Massachusetts to the late Henry and Margaret Woodward Barlett.  She is a veteran of the United States Army where she proudly served in the Women’s Army Corp.  She is a member of the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church of Burdine, Kentucky.  In 1981, she and her husband, Brother John DePreist, founded Burdine Christian School where she was a teacher for 20 years.  She is lovingly known by her former students as, ‘Mrs. Lynn’. She was a supportive pastor’s wife for many years.  She was also an avid U.K. fan.

Other than by her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Pastor John Depriest; one great grandson, Trenton Paul Carty and one son-in- law, Paul Sanders.

She is survived by one son, Paul (Cathy) DePriest of Memphis, Tennessee;  four daughters:  Cindy Sanders of Jenkins, Kentucky, Debbie (Tim) Lucas of Lancaster, Kentucky, Mindy (Delbert) Kiser of Jenkins Kentucky and Melanie (Chris) Caudill of Waddy, Kentucky;  one brother, Earnest Beals of  Stone Mountain, Georgia;  one sister, Kathy Warner of Haydenville, Massachusetts;  14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

      Visitation for Mrs. DePriest will be held at the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

     Funeral services will be conducted from the church on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 2:00 PM with Minister Mark Randle officiating.

    Interment will follow in the East Jenkins DePriest Cemetery of Jenkins, Kentucky.
