  Timothy Dewayne “Red” Sexton, age 53, of Jackhorn, Kentucky passed fromthis life on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his residence.  He was born on October 8, 1964 at Jenkins, Kentucky to the late Denver Sexton and the surviving, Mary Meade Sexton.  

   He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Randall Wayne Sexton, Gregory Sexton and Mark Anthony Sexton.

   Mr. Sexton is survived also by one niece: Tabitha Sexton; two nephews: Jody Sexton and Arron Sexton; along with a host ofother family and many friends to mourn his passing. 

     Visitation will be held at the Neon Church of Christ on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 with family viewing at 5:00 PMand public visitation will begin at 6:00 PM; all day at the church on Thursday, January 4, 2018.

     Funeral services will be conducted from the Church on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 1:00PM with Ministers: John King,Frank Fleming and Brad Taylor officiating.

   Burial will follow in the Meade Family Cemetery located at Deane, Kentucky.

   Elena Dobbins, age 72, of Neon, Kentucky passed from this life on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at theHolston Valley Medical Center of Kingsport, Tennessee.  She was born on January 26, 1945 at McRoberts, Kentucky to the late Charles Richard Lee, Sr. and Sedelia Back Lee.  Elena was amember of the Ladie’s Auxiliary of the American Legion. 

   She was also preceded in death by one brother: Charles Richard Lee, Jr. and by one sister: Dorothy Jean Rains.

   Ms. Dobbins is survived by one daughter: Melissa Wurschmidt of Neon, Kentucky; one brother: James Lee of Haymond, Kentucky;three grandchildren: Richard Allen Adams of Neon, Kentucky, Kevin Chase Wurschmidt of Mayking, Kentucky and Nancy Selena Wurschmidt of Neon, Kentucky; two great grandchildren: Alexis Spangler andNova Adams; along with a host of other family and many friends to mourn her passing.

     James Zidaroff, Jr., age 91, of McRoberts, Kentucky passedfrom this life on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at the Letcher Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Whitesburg, Kentucky.  He was born on March 8, 1926 at Dunham, Kentucky to the late JamesZidaroff, Sr. and Myrtle Caudill Zidaroff .  James was a longtime member of the McRoberts Missionary Baptist Church and served his country honourably in the United States Military. Mr. Zidaroffwas loved deeply by his family and all who knew him.

   He was preceded in death also by his loving wife: Ruby Holbrook Zidaroff; one brother: Ed Zidaroff.

   Mr. Zidaroff is survived by one son: Tim (Sharon) Zidaroff of Mount Sterling, Kentucky; one daughter: Shelia (Jack) Hill ofHuber Heights, Ohio;  two brothers: Danny (Reeda) Zidaroff of Charlotte, North Carolina and Roger (Tessie) Zidaroff  of Tipp City, Ohio; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; onegreat-great grandchild; numerous nephews and nieces;  along with a host of other family and many friends to mourn his passing.

      Billy Harold Mullins, age 83, of Jenkins, Kentucky passed from this life on Thursday,December 21, 2017 at his residence.  He was born on February 14, 1934 at McRoberts, Kentucky to the late Willie Mullins and Wonna Tackett Mullins.  Billy was a member of the People’sFundamental Baptist Church.  He served his country honourably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

   He was preceded in death also by his loving wife: Phyllis Jean Plummer Mullins; one son: Brian Keith Mullins; two sisters:Gayle Copp and Carol Baker.

   Mr. Mullins is survived by one son: Billy Charles Mullins of Jenkins, Kentucky; one daughter: Kimberly Mullins of Jenkins,Kentucky;  three sisters: Betty Fields of Mount Washington, Kentucky, Christine Junga of Louisville, Kentucky and Peggy (David) Wright of Dorton, Kentucky; five grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; along with a host of other family and many friends to mourn his passing.

    Teina Sue Hall, age 59, of Haymond, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, December 10, 2017 atthe Pikeville Medical Center of Pikeville, Kentucky.  She was born on July 10, 1958 at Haymond, Kentucky to the late Luke Arnold Hall and Janice Coy-Marie Holbrook Hall.  Teina was a memberof the Fleming-Neon Church of God.

   She was preceded in death also by one sister: Vanessa Hall.

   Teina is survived by two brothers: Gregory L. Hall and Martin Hall, both of Haymond, Kentucky; loving nieces and nephews;along with a host of other family and many friends, who celebrate her life.

   Raymond Edison Lee, age 74, of Jenkins, Kentucky passed from this life on Friday, December 1, 2017 at hisresidence.  He was born on January 23, 1943 at Garysburg, North Carolina to the late Julius Lee and Lucy Vick Lee.  Raymond was a longtime member of the Masons for many years.  He wasalso a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a Jenkins Volunteer Firefighter. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and coaching Little League Baseball.

   He was preceded in death also by his grandmother: Blanche Vick; three brothers: Cleophus Lee, Roy Lee and Alfred Lee; twonephews: David Lee and Damarcus Gales.

   Mr. Lee is survived by his wife: Joyce Lee of Jenkins, Kentucky; one daughter: Christa Lee  of Louisville, Kentucky;two grandchildren: Zaire and Zion Goodall of Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters: Peggy Lee of Bronx, New York and Dorothy Lee of Maryland; two sisters-in-law: Annie Lee of Garysburg,North Carolina and Dorothy Lee of Washington, D.C.; several nieces and nephews; along with a host of other family and manyfriends to mourn his passing.

    Kenneth Darrell Polly, age 69, of Jenkins, Kentucky passed from this life on Wednesday, November 29,2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center of Pikeville, Kentucky.  He was born on August 3, 1948 at Neon, Kentucky to the late Lester Jay Polly and the surviving Anna Williams Polly. 

   He was preceded in death also by two brothers: Earnest Lee Polly and Billy Wayne Polly.

   Joseph Edwin Eversole “Joe Eddie”, age 76, of Jenkins, Kentuckypassed from this life on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at his residence.  He was born on November 25, 1940 at Jenkins, Kentucky to the late Joe C. Eversole and Mary Elizabeth ChristopherEversole.  Joe Eddie was a longtime proprietor of the Jenkins Cavalier Drug Store for over sixty years. He was a member of the Jenkins United Methodist Church and enjoyed socializing with themembers of the community; as well as, sharing his knowledge of the history of Jenkins. Joe Eddie was also a member of the Jenkins Masonic Lodge #856 for over fifty years and a member of the JenkinsYort Rite. He loved and celebrated horses; showing American saddlebred horses. He was also the owner of a world champion three- gated horse.

   Mr. Eversole is survived by his loving wife: Joe Ann Eversole of Jenkins, Kentucky; one son: Joe Scott Eversole ofLexington, Kentucky; two granddaughters: Chloe and Sophia Eversole; two special brothers-in-law: Bill (Judi) Bates of Lexington, Kentucky and Don (Debbie) Bates of Sun Rise Beach, Missouri; also by ahost of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

   Ishmael Johnson, age 79, of Haymond, Kentucky passed from this life on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at theAppalachian Regional Hospital of Whitesburg, Kentucky.  He was born on April 16, 1938 at Puncheon, Kentucky to the late Daniel Johnson and Nannie Hall Johnson.  Ishmael had retired from along career with Ford Motor Company.

   He was preceded in death also by one brother: Dale Johnson formerly of Chicago, Illinois; two sisters: Birdie Tackettformerly of Haymond, Kentucky and Villie King formerly of Ripley, Ohio; one grandson: Jason Robinson formerly of Berea, Kentucky.

   Mr. Johnson is survived by his loving wife: Diane Johnson of Haymond, Kentucky; two daughters: Kenna Johnson (Matt Bolling)of Deane, Kentucky and Angela (Eddie) Robinson of Berea, Kentucky; one granddaughter: Paige Johnson of Haymond, Kentucky; two grandsons: Derek Robinson of Indiana and Justin Robinson of Berea,Kentucky along with a host of other close family and many friends to mourn his passing.

  Loretta Flanary Vanover, age 88,of  Jenkins, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at her residence in Jenkins, Kentucky.  She was born on April 5, 1929 to the late Robert Flanary and Golda NewsomeFlanary in Jenkins, Kentucky. Loretta had been a member of the Eastern Star-Pine Mountain Chapter 247 and White Shrine of Neon, Kentucky. She  was also a member of the Haymond Freewill BaptistChurch.

     Mrs. Vanover was preceded in death by her husband: Earl Vanover; one son: Roger Vanover (Emma) of Jenkins,Kentucky;  one sister: Sharlene Hall; two brothers:  Robert Flanary, Jr. and Clyde Flanary.

     Loretta is survived by one daughter: Charlotte (Kenny) Mullins of Jenkins, Kentucky; one son: Larry (Sharyn)Vanover of Jenkins, Kentucky; six grandchildren: Michael Mullins of Muncie, Indiana, Michelle Bentley of Jenkins, Kentucky,  Richard Vanover of Jenkins, Kentucky, Randy Vanover of Jenkins,Kentucky,  Ginger Smith of Zanesville, Ohio, and Robert Vanover of Neon, Kentucky; also eight great grandchildren; along with a host of other family and many friends to mourn herpassing.

    Norma Fay Bentley Phillips, age 65, of Seco, Kentucky passed fromthis life on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.  She was born on November 15, 1951 at Rhoda, Virginia to the late John Henry Bentley and thesurviving Ada Jeanette Bolling Bentley.  Norma was a loving wife and mother.

   She is also survived by her loving husband: Owen Eugene Phillips of Seco, Kentucky; one daughter: Norma Darlene (Danny)Potter of Seco, Kentucky; two sisters: Brenda Kay (Harrison) Sexton  of Millstone, Kentucky and Reba Darlene Wilkinson of Florida; brother-in-law: Fred Taylor; sisters-in-law: Carolyn Spanglerand Elaine Kelly; along with a host of other family and many friends to mourn her passing.

   Willard Rudd (Daddy Rabbit), age 87, of Neon, Kentucky, born June 18,1930, wnet to be with the Lord on Friday, October 27, 2017.  At the time of his passing he was at the Johnson City Medical Center.  He is the son of the late Herman Rudd and Jane Rowe Ruddof Magoffin County, Kentucky.

   Willard married Gwendolyn Terry Rudd on December 20, 1951.  After marriage, he went on to proudly serve his country inthe United States Navy from 1951-1955.  He was deployed on the USS Richard E. Kraus during the Korean War.  After the Navy, he worked as a machinist for several different companies inOhio.  He also worked for Bethlehem in Jenkins, Kentucky.  Willard finished his career at Millstone Construction in Millstone, Kentucky. 

   In addition to his parents, Willard was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Terry Rudd; one daughter, Dewanna Rudd andone son, Timothy Rudd. 

   Willard is survived by his children, David (Kaye) Rudd, Teleford, Tennessee;  Mike (Angie) Rudd, Bristol, Virginia;Sheree (Barry) Wright, Neon, Kentucky;  and Chris (Erin) Rudd, Johnson City, Tennessee; Siblings, Ruby & late husband Sid Deskins, Johnson City, Tennessee;  Vonda (Chuck) Cole,Youngstown, Ohio; Roger & late wife Eleanor Rudd, Johnson City, Tennessee;  Cleo (Ernie) Elkins, Jonesboro, Tennessee; and a host of other family and many friends to mourn hispassing.

  Glenda Alice Isaac Mullins, age 69, of Jackhorn, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at herresidence.  She was born on May 8, 1948 in Hemphill, Kentucky to the late Dow Isaac and Pauline Arnold Isaac. 

   She is survived by her loving husband: Ronnie Mullins; two sons: Dean (Kim) Mullins and Dow (Jen) Mullins; six grandchildren:D.J. Mullins, Matthew B. Mullins, Bradley R. Mullins, Autumn L. Mullins, Ava A. Mullins and Scarlett G. Mullins; one great granddaughter: Arabella Kinzley; six sisters: Della Noble, Emma Noble, FernStallard, Reba Yonts, Alberta Noble and Rhobenia Hurst; one brother: Estill Isaac, along with a host of other family and many friends to mourn her passing.

   SSG Abigail Rose Milam, age 32, was born August 19, 1984 in Whitesburg, KY. She attended Fleming Neongrade school and graduated in 2002. She was called home to be with the Lord on August 15, 2017, when the Blackhawk helicopter she was on went down in the waters of Hawaii off Ka’ena Point.

Military Service
In August of 2011, SSG Milam attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and then attended Advanced Individual Training at Fort Eustis, Virginia where she became a UH-60 Black HawkHelicopter Repairman. Upon completion of AIT, Abby was assigned to the U.S. Army Air Ambulance Detachment at Fort Polk, Louisana where she served as crew chief on the LUH-72 Lakota. She began herservice with the 25tj Combat Aviation Brigade in 2016 when she was assigned to Bravo Company, 209th Aviation Support Battalion at Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii as a Technical Inspector and TeamChief. Her most recent assignment was with Alpha Company, 2-25th Aviation Regiment or “The Blackjacks”, where she served as a Flight Instructor and Platoon Sergeant.
Abby’s military career was marked with honors and achievement that includes: The Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal with two loops, the National DefenseService Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 2, the Army Service Ribbon, the Army's Meritorious Service Medaland the Basic Aviation Badge. Abby was proud of her service and her accomplishments, but she would be most proud of the difference she made in the lives of all who knew her. Her family has beenoverwhelmed with incredible story after story of those who crossed paths with her and come to find themselves the better for it. Abby was determined that one person could make a difference and shedid.

     Goldie Mae Smith Sparks, age 90, of Payne Gap,Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the Letcher Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Whitesburg, Kentucky.  She was born on July 23, 1927 in Heidelberg, Kentucky to thelate Neal Smith and  Carrie Anderson Smith.

   Mrs. Sparks was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Pound, Virginia. She was a long-term member of the Order ofEastern Star, where she held the office of Martha for many years; along with being a member of the Order of Ambassador for several years. She loved gospel music and volunteering for the JenkinsFestival Committee. Goldie spent most of her life in Letcher County and made the best soup beans and corn bread around.

   Mrs. Sparks was preceded in death also by her husband: Charlie Sparks; one sister: Jean Spencer and by one brother: JohnnieSmith.

   She is survived by one daugther: Leoda Hall of Payne Gap, Kentucky; three grandchildren: Thomas Cook of Jenkins, Kentucky,Cassie Takieddin of Fairfax, Virginia and Lara (Shelly) Hayes of Lexington, Kentucky; five brothers:  Junior Smith, Harold Smith, Marvin Smith, Charles Smith and William Smith; one sister: AlmaRuth of Ohio; seven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren;  special friends: Shawn Girty, Chester & Earnestine Flint; along with  a host of other family and many friendsto mourn her passing.

      JosephineShehee, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, entered this world on December 5, 1927at Fleming-Neon, Kentucky, to Vestie and Sylvan Holbrook. She departed this world on September 26, 2017, to celebrate with her loving Savior in heaven, making her stay on earth, 89 years. Josephine,while being a real Rosie the Riveter in Detroit to help the war effort met, fell in love and married John Patrick Shehee, who was home on furlough from the Air Force. He was the love of her life. Shespent 48 years of married life creating a loving and wonderful home for her husband and daughter, Elizabeth, in Toledo, Ohio. Josephine loved to write poetry and even wrote a book. She was a memberof the Garden Club and the Quilt Club.  She tried golf, roller skating, line dancing and cake decorating. She enjoyed Yahtzee, puzzles, board games, card games and live theater. Josephine was awonderful cook who enjoyed having family and friends partake in her fabulous creations. Josephine was active in various church groups. She attended the Shelton Park Church of God and enjoyed her walkand friendship with Jesus. In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, John Patrick Shehee; brother and sister-in-law, Remus and Maggie Holbrook; sisters, Emma Rodmanand Louise Holbrook; and sister and brother-in-law, Geneva and Sam Maran. Josephine’s love of life, respect for others, strength, courage and wisdom were an inspiration to everyone who had thepleasure of knowing her.  She was a kind and generous woman who was a blessing to people in adverse situations. She was dearly loved by her husband, daughter, family and those whose lives shehad the opportunity to touch. She will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory, her daughter: Elizabeth Shehee; special nephew: Edgar Allen; very special friend, Alice Priest; family andfriends.

    Rodney Allen ‘Bob’ Blevins.,age 84, of  Payne Gap, Kentucky passed from this life  on September  26, 2017 at the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center of Mountain Home, Tennessee. He was born on July 13, 1933 in Dunham, Kentucky to the late Ernest Blevins  and Alta MaeHaynes Blevins. He served his country honorably in both the United States Army and Air Force (staff sergeant).  He was a fifty year Mason. He was a current member and a former commander of theJenkins American Legion.

   He was also preceded in death by one sister: Janet Nadine Thorne.

    Mr. Blevins is survived by two brothers: Ernest Richard (Mary Gail) Blevins  of Luray, Virginia and Gary R.(Marla Jean) Blevins of Geneva, Ohio; one sister: Lana Gail (Christopher) Pavick of Charlestown, Indiana; along with a host of other family and many friends to mourn his passing.

   In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Mr. Blevin’s memory to a local hospice facility ofchoice.

   Anna Roberta Tompkins Wyatt age 84, of  Jenkins, Kentucky passed from thislife on Friday, September 1, 2017 at her residence.  She was born on April  15, 1933   to the late Hoyt Tompkins and Martha Tucker Tompkins in Pound,  Virginia. Anna lovedspending time with her family and she also loved her church family very much  She enjoyed working on her I-pad and doing word-search. She was known as ‘Granny’ to many and she will be greatlymissed.

    Mrs. Wyatt was also preceded in death by her husband: George Wyatt; two sons: George Edward Wyatt and Thurman RayWyatt; four daughters: Anna Faye Elza, Yolonda Wyatt, Jonella Wyatt and Dianah Lynn Wyatt; three sisters: June Tompkins, Lenore Tompkins and Alene Tompkins.

     Anna is survived by two sons: Willie Lee (Linda) Wyatt of Oakdale, Tennessee and John (Cathy) Wyatt of Jenkins,Kentucky; three daughters: Nettie Jean (Dennis) Anderson of Jenkins, Kentucky, Goldie Marie (Glenn) Triplett of Jenkins, Kentucky and Connie Ann (Clyde) Profitt of Jenkins, Kentucky; thirty-fivegrandchildren; fifty-nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; Sheila Turnmyre, whom Anna called ‘her angel’; along with a host of other family and many friends.

   Melvin Otis Potter, age 78, of  Fleming-Neon, Kentucky  passed away on August 28, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center atPikeville, Kentucky. He was born at Neon, Kentucky on June 21, 1939 to the late Jesse R. Potter and Mary Riley Potter. 

   Mr. Potter was a long-term member of the Fleming Baptist Church.  He was also a member of the American Legion(Post 104), Kentucky Colonel and a memberof the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Potter served his country honorably, as a two-tour Viet Nam Veteran of the United States Air Force.  He also served on the Neon Volunteer Fire Department,  the Fleming-Neon Water Commisssion and as a Letcher County Special Operations Officer.  Melvin greatly enjoyed his woodworking and artistry.

    He  was preceded in death also by his loving wife: Glenda Fay Mosgrove Potter; one daughter: Vicki Hanzelka and by  one sister: SallyLouise Wissinger.

   Mr. Potter is survived by two sons: Timothy Potter of Jenkins, Kentucky and Jeffery (Charlene) Potter of Cromona, Kentucky; two sisters: Peggy Patrick ofBaltimore, Maryland and Phyllis (Jack) Wright of Jackhorn, Kentucky; two grandchildren: Leah McElroy and Ashley Walton; five great grandchildren: Jaxson, Landyn, Stacy, Elaine and Tyler; two specialfriends: David and Angie Hardin; along with a host of other family and many friends.

   Alma Meade Bolling, age 100, of  Deane, Kentucky passed fromthis life on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Letcher Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Whitesburg, Kentucky.  She was born on March 5, 1917 to the late Rhodes Meade and Vina Huston Meade inDeane,  Kentucky.  Alma spent her life taking care of her family.

   She was also preceded in death by her husband: Roy Bolling; nine brothers and two sisters.

   Alma is survived by two sons: Arlie (Bonnie) Bolling of Deane, Kentucky and Henry (Donna) Bolling also of Deane, Kentucky;one daughter: Violet (Donnie) Mullins of Deane, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a host of family and many friends.

  Jeannie Marie Burke Fleming was born on the 19^th of September in 1975 to Larry Wayne Burke and LorettaKay Heiston.  It was so cold that day that Loretta’s uncle took her to the Whitesburg ARH to deliver Jeannie and they were released two days later on the 21^st. A fire had to be builtso Larry went back on the slate dump and picked up coal to keep the baby warm. Times were hard and people were closer.

   Jeannie was a good baby. She rarely cried and was your typical baby girl.

   At eight years old, Jeannie got a baby brother, named Kenneth Wayne Burke. It was her very own live baby doll. It wasn’t longthat Jeannie became the big Sis. that all little boys dread. She would guard her brother and fight for him on any day; while at the same time, she would hold him down and tickle him til he just aboutpeed himself. The two would continue through life closer than ever, while fighting at the same time, like most siblings.

   Jeannie was always a mischevious little girl in school. She loved cheering at ballgames and skipping class at every chance.She enjoyed life to the fullest. Her report card was never one she was proud to show her mom; however she had a personality above all others. On December 23, 1995, she married Richard Neil Richardsonand began her adult life. To this union was born Jeannie’s greatest accomplishment in her life, her pride and joy, her baby boy, Cameron Neil Richardson.  He was born December 21, 2000. Cameron was all she talked about. The two of them became inseperable. They both have personalities that you instantly fall in love with.

   On October 9, 2004, Jeannie married Brandon Lewis Fleming.  The two of them shared a love that was unconditional. Youcould see it at a glance. Their life was full of struggles but with each one, their union grew stronger. Jeannie loved the Lord. She tried with her whole heart to please everyone. She never wantedothers to see her weaknesses. Her sickness, she hid well. She battled diabetes along with all its’ side effects.

   On August 16, 2017, Jeannie left this life for her eternal rest. She left behind many siblings on her dad’s side, lots offriends, two cats(Bell & Sully) which were her babies, a husband, mother and son whom will carry her love to their grave.

   Visitation for Mrs. Fleming will be held at the Fleming-Neon Church of Christ on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 5:00 PM for family viewing, 6:00 PM to 12:00PM for the public.

    Clifton McBee, age 81, of Millstone, Kentucky, passed away onThursday, August 17, 2017 at his residence.  He was born on April 4, 1936 in Millstone, Kentucky to the late Pat McBee and Rachel Salyers McBee. 

    He was also preceded in death by one son:  Mitchell Dewayne McBee; three brothers: Harold McBee, Darrell McBeeand Wayne McBee; one grandson: Matthew Burns.

    Ricky Dean Dingus, Jr, age 35, of  Jenkins, Kentucky passed from this life on Saturday-August12, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky.  He was born on August 4, 1982 in Pound, Virginia.

   He is preceded in death by his father: Ricky Dean Dingus, Sr. and by his step-brother: Jason Robinson.

   Ricky is survived by his loving mother: Martha Ann Crawford Robinson and his step-father: Rodney Robinson of Jenkins,Kentucky; one brother: Samuel Branson of Whitaker, Kentucky; two step-sisters: Kayla West and Rebecca Baker, both of McRoberts, Kentucky; along with a host of other family and many friends to mournhis passing.

     Frank Edward Fields, age 68, of Fleming - Neon,Kentucky, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in Hazard, Kentucky.  He was born on May 7, 1949 in Goose Creek, Kentucky to the late Cleveland Fields andthe surviving Melvie Salyers Fields.

   He was a member of the Haymond Holiness Church and had been a minister for about fifty years.

   Mr. Fields is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years: Reva Jean Collins Fields;  one daugther: Priscilla Ann(James Nicholas) Sloan; two grandchildren: Presley Sloan and Cooper Sloan; three brothers: Kenneth (Elinda) Fields of Neon, Kentucky, Glen Benjamin Fields and Roger (Pam) Fields of Pike County,Kentucky; one sister: Alesa (Teddy) Reed of Goose Creek, Kentucky; also a host of other family and many friends to mourn his passing.

  Archie Columbus Meade, age 84, of Fleming - Neon, Kentucky, passed awayon Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky.  He was born on June 15, 1933 in Goose Creek, Kentucky to the late R.B. Meade and Sillar E. HoustonMeade. 

   He was also preceded in death by his loving wife: Hazel Marie Harmon Meade; one son: Archie Curtis Meade; one daughter:Emmazetta Meade; three brothers: George Earl Meade, Denton Estil Meade and Douglas McArthur Meade.

   Cassie Irene Odette, age 36, of  Richmond, Virginia (formerly of Pike County, Kentucky and Augusta,Georgia) passed from this life on Friday, July 28, 2017.  She was born on March 25, 1981 to her parents, Mary Fogarty Potter and Arlie Potter, Jr. of Dorton, Kentucky.

   Known for her curly red hair and big heart, Cassie brought smiles to many.  She was passionate  about many causesand worked for a variety of non-profit organizations.

   In addition to her parents, Cassie is survived by three children: Joseph Drake Jennings, Daniel Zaiden Odette and LillianMarie Odette;  two brothers: David (Dena) Potter of Chesterfield, Virginia and Jarrod Potter of Mount Sterling, Kentucky; a host of family and many friends.

   She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Arlie and Iva Robbins Potter of Dorton, Kentucky; her maternalgrandparents: Carl and Gladys Turner Fogarty of Wise, Virginia.

    Richard Allen “Hippie” Collins, age 55, of  Jenkins, Kentucky passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at his residence. He was born on September 11, 1961 in Jenkins, Kentucky to the late Robert Collins  and  his surviving mother, Alpha Louise White Mullins. Heloved camping, fishing and music. He also greatly loved spending time with family and friends.

     He was also preceded in death by his step-father: John A. Mullins;  seven brothers: Doug, Jimmy, Tim, Tommy,Arthur, David, and Dale; one sister: Kay; his grandparents: Della “Granny” White and Sampson “Papaw” White.

   Imogene Lucille Fleming.,age 63, of  Jackhorn, Kentucky passedfrom this life  on  July 10, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center at Pikeville, Kentucky. She was born on February 8, 1954 to the late Bradley Boggs and Madeline Scott Boggs at Eolia,Kentucky. 

   She was also preceded in death by her husband: Rabon Keith Fleming; along with several brothers and sisters.

    She is survived by four children: Jennifer Gail Fleming, Ray Tolliver, Wayne Tolliver and Clinton Dale Fleming; twostep-children that she loved as her own: Chadrick Keith Fleming(April) and Ellen Jenay Hall (Fiance’, Danny Perkins); ten grandchildren: Jon-Michael Heath Fleming, Chadrick Gavin Fleming, Jason ColtFleming, Rabon Keiston Fleming, Natazsha Brooke Fleming (Amie), Lauren Tenay Rose (Josh), Nadia Charm Wyatt, Alexis Tolliver and the twins; two sisters: Irene Roberts and Martha Roberts(Ronnie); twobrothers: Henry Boggs and Bill Boggs; also a host of other family and many friends to mourn her passing.

   Richard Earl Mullins, Jr., age 24, of  Jenkins, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Holden Beach, North Carolina.  He was born onJuly 3, 1993 at Pikeville, Kentucky to Richard Earl Mullins, Sr. and Regina Redford Mullins. Richard loved his Pitt Bull (Red), women, fishing, riding motorcycles, tattoos and spending time with hisson.

    Richard was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents: Johnny Mack Mulllins and April B. Mullins; Maternalgrandfather:  Danny Redford; Step Grandfather: Glen Gross; also one aunt: Bobbie Jean Mullins.

    Sonny (Martin Wayne) Houston, left our world on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, after a briefillness.  Sonny was born on November 20, 1949 in Fleming, KY. to Denton and Sophia Houston, who preceded him in death.

   Sonny graduated from Fleming-Neon High School in 1967 and received a bachelor’s degree in Recording Engineering from MiddleTennessee State University in Murpheesboro, Tennessee.  He has been a musician and songwriter since the age of 18 and was currently a teacher of Mountain Music in Atlanta, a place very dear tohis heart.

   Sonny is survived by his brother, Ronnie (Belinda), of Xenia, Ohio; Randy (Jackie) of Bardstown, Kentucky; sisters: Susan(Ken) of Martin, Kentucky and Lee Ann (Keith) Holbrook of Bardstown, Kentucky; Nieces: Kimmie Shea

 (Craig) Wright of Xenia, Ohio; Susan Houston and Keisha Holbrook of Bardstown, Kentucky; Nephews: Brenton (Samantha) of Neon,Kentucky, Randy Alan (Heather) of Louisville, Kentucky, Jamie of Xenia, Ohio and Jordan Holbrook (Katie) of Bardstown, Kentucky; 15 great nieces and nephews and 5 great-great nieces andnephews.  Sonny leaves a wealth of family and friends to mourn his passing.

   Harlan Dewayne Mullins, age 42, of  Redfox, Kentucky passed from this life on Monday, July 3, 2017 atIsom, Kentucky.  He was born on January 26, 1975 to the late Virgil Mullins and Carrie Beverly Mullins in Hazard,  Kentucky.

     Aside from loving siblings, Harlan is survived by one son: Harlan Mullins, II ofOhio; three daughters: Alycia Mullins of Ohio, Angel Breeding of Kentucky and Alexis Mullins of Kentucky; along with a host of family and many friends to mourn his passing.

   James Robert Bartram Sr., age 79, of  Jenkins, Kentucky passed from this life  on  June 15,2017 at the Letcher Manor Nursing Home of Whitesburg, Kentucky. He was born on December 21, 1937 in Louisa, Kentucky to the late Dr. William (Jay) Johnson Bartram  and Laura Ellis Bartram. Hewas a member of the Emmanuel  Baptist Church and  served his country honorably in the United States Army.

   He was also preceded in death by his step father: Ova Collier; three sisters: Mary Hughes,  Esther Ellen Adams, andHannah Sneed; two grandchildren: Kimberly Adkins Clark and Jeanie Boggs.

    Mr. Bartram is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Virginia Daryl White Bartram; four sons: James Robert(Lisa) Bartram Jr.of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Kenneth R. (Mary Lou) Boggs of Luckey, Ohio, Cecil (Kristina) Boggs of Dunham, Kentucky and Cecil (Autumn) Boggs II of Jenkins, Kentucky; four daughters:Theresa (Larry) Napier of Clintwood, Virginia, Lisa (Sammy) Adkins of Burdine, Kentucky, Bobbie Jean Bartram of Mount Sterling, Kentucky and Robin Cantrell of Jenkins, Kentucky; one brother: Jack(Emma Jean) Bartram  of Oregon, Ohio; one sister: Naomi Napier of Clintwood, Virginia. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren  and a host of otherfamily and many friends to mourn his passing.

   Margaret Ann Lewis, age 77, of  Jenkins, Kentucky passed fromthis life on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center of Hazard, Kentucky.  She was born on October 10, 1939 in Jenkins, Kentucky to the late Durward Narramore, Sr.and Helen Gilliam Narramore. Above all else, Mrs. Lewis was a dedicated Christian, who enjoyed serving the Lord.   Margaret was a retired elementary school and music teacher. She was afaithful member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and also a very gifted pianist and soloist.

   Mrs. Lewis was also preceded in death  by her brother: Durward Narramore, Jr.

   She is survived by her loving husband: Richard “Red” Lee Lewis of Jenkins, Kentucky; one son: Timothy (Tim) Lewis ofJenkins, Kentucky; two adopted daughters: Rena (Kenneth) Hannon of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and Regina (Lou) Silva of Jonas, Pennsylvania; two sisters: Lana (Robert “Pud”) Shubert of Jenkins, Kentuckyand Lois Johnson of Frankfort, Kentucky; two grandchildren: Luis and Amber; several nieces and nephews; along with a host of other family and many friends to mourn her passing.

  Reverend John Harms age 83, of Jenkins, Kentucky passedfrom this life on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital of Whitesburg, Kentucky.  He was born on April 21, 1934 to the late Abram Harms and Agatha Friesen Harms inCrookshank Saskatchewan, CANADA. Mr. Harms was a very dedicated Christian and he was a full-time pastor for over fifty-two years. Mr. Harms also received a Doctorate of Divinity degree. He was amongthe  Honourable Order of the Kentucky Colonels. He pastored church congregations in Ashcamp, Fogertown, and Burdine for a number of years.

   Mr. Harms is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Young Harms of sixty-one years; four children: Larry (Pam) Harms ofLondon, Kentucky; Lynn Schell of Jenkins, Kentucky; Lorne (Maria) Harms of Hallsville, Texas;  Layne Harms of Jenkins, Kentucky; one brother: Jake (Sharon) Harms of Surrey B.C., CANADA; fivegrandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; along with a host of other family and many friends, who celebrate his life.

   Visitation will be held for Mr. Harms at the Beefhide First Alliance Church of Myra, Kentucky on Friday, June 16, 2017 from6:00 PM to 9:00 PM for the public.

  Mack Vernon Hipps, age 78, of  McRoberts, Kentucky and Southern Ohiopassed from this life on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital of Whitesburg, Kentucky.  He was born on June 22, 1938 to the late Denver J. Hipps and Nancy L. Pruitt Hippsin Berwind,  West Virginia. Mr. Hipps served  his country honorably in the United States Army and he was of the Church of Christ faith. Mack was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed going asoften as he could.

   Mr. Hipps was also preceded in death by his wife: Lavada Hipps; two sisters: Wanda McCloud and Myrtle Tackett; threebrothers: Edward Hipps, Charles Hipps and Emerson Hipps.

   He is survived by one son: Wesley Hipps of Jenkins, Kentucky;  four grandchildren; one great grandchild; along with ahost of other family and many friends to mourn his passing.

      Tony (Pooch) Burke, age 62, of  Jenkins, Kentucky passed away on  June 3, 2017at his home. He was the son of Lois and the late Bennett Burke.  

     He leaves:  his mother, Lois Burke; one daughter, Tonya Boggs; one former son-in-law, Tim (Sype) Boggs;two grandchildren, Zander (Victor) Boggs and Zoey (Rosa Lee) Boggs; a former wife, Teresa Burke; one brother, Tim Burke; a former sister-in-law, Linda; one sister, Bonnie (Sissy) Burke; two nieces,Missy Burke and Melynda Burke; very special friends, Roger Johnson, Terry Fleming and Chris (Sidewinder) Miller; along with a host of other family and friends.  Pooch will be greatlymissed.

    He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Virgie Anderson.

    Can Martin Meade, age 90, of  Jackhorn, Kentucky passed from this life on  May 26, 2017 athis residence in Jackhorn, Kentucky. He was born on March 13, 1927 in Letcher County, Kentucky to the late William Henry Meade and Martha Bentley Meade. He worked hard and made a living for hisfamily as a coal miner. He was a member of the Church of Christ for over forty years. He had a  love for hunting, gardening  and being outdoors.  

     He was preceded in death by six brothers; William Henry Meade (infant), Grover Meade, Quiller Meade Meade,Chandis Meade, Buford Meade and Conley Meade; three sisters; Ruth Strange, Beulah Tackett, and Florida White.

    Mr. Meade is survived by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Hazel Fleming Meade and was wed on January 3, 1948 inNeon, Kentucky;  one son; Linville (Gaye) Meade of Jackhorn, Kentucky, one brother; Rush Meade of Virgie, Kentucky. He is also survived by  two grandchildren; Chris Meade and MitchellMeade, five great grandchildren; Ashlea Meade, Alicia Meade, Walker Meade, Andrew Meade and Denzil Meade, one great-great grandchild; Leland Peterson and a host of family and friends to mourn hispassing.

    Barbara Lynn Works, age 45, of  Latonia, Kentucky passed from this life on Tuesday, May 23,2017 at her son’s residence in Latonia, Kentucky.  She was born on July 30, 1971 to the late James Richard and Joy Ann Chadderton Williams in Newport,  Kentucky. Barbara enjoyed being aSunday School Teacher at the Latonia Baptist Church.

  Barbara is survived by four sons: Phillip Estes, Jr. of Covington, Kentucky, Daniel Estes of Covington, Kentucky, Timmy Estes ofCovington, Kentucky and Tyler Meade of Neon Kentucky; one daughter: Jadelyn Harrison of Florence, Kentucky; one brother:  Jimmy Williams of Covington, Kentucky; one sister: Patricia Sexton ofNeon, Kentucky; several grandchildren; along with a host of other family and many friends to mourn her passing.

       Jerry Daniel Morgan, age 58, of Dunham, Kentucky passed from this life on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

   Pastor Joe Martin Brown , age 65, ofNeon, Kentucky passed into eternal life on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Whitesburg  Appalachian Regional Hospital.  He was born on August 15, 1951 in Fleming-Neon, Kentucky to the lateJohn and Pauline Smith Brown.  Mr. Brown was a dedicated Christian minister and pastor of the Neon Pentecostal Church for many years. He was well known and loved by  many.

   He was also preceded in death by two sons:  Joey Ray Brown and Teddy Dewayne Brown and by one brother: Larry DeanBrown.

   Billy Joe Mullins , age 67, of Dorton, Kentucky passed from this life on Friday- April 14, 2017 at hisresidence.  He was born on May 27, 1949 in Fleming-Neon, Kentucky to the late Hursell Daniel Mullins  and Jenetta Irene Collier Mullins.  Mr. Mullins was a Viet Nam veteran, havingserved his country honourably in the United States Army. He was a member of the Dorton Freewill Baptist Church. By far, his grandchildren were his pride and joy.  Billy also greatly enjoyed hishorse, named ‘Lady’ and his German Shepherd Dogs.

   Mr. Mullins is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Deborah Lynn Wright Mullins;  two sons: Bobby Joe(Melissa) Mullins of Shelby Gap, Kentucky and Roland Daniel Mullins  of Dorton, Kentucky; two grandchildren: Hunter Joseph Mullins and Ruby Gabrielle Mullins; three brothers: Jackie (Maude)Fleming of Virginia, Danny (Shirley) Mullins of Virginia and Roger ( Nancy) Mullins of Virginia;  four sisters: Judy (Garry) Wright of Dorton, Kentucky, Lois (Donnie) Profitt of Whitesburg,Kentucky, Kaye (David) Rudd of Jonesborough, Tennessee and Liz (Chris) Anderson of Coeburn, Virginia; many beloved nieces and nephews; along with  a host of other family and many friends tomourn his passing.

   Everett Kenneth Sexton III, age 43, of  Jackhorn, Kentucky passed from this life on Thursday- April14, 2017 at his  residence in Jackhorn, Kentucky.  He was born on May 11, 1973 in Letcher County,  Kentucky. Kenny worked as a butcher for seventeen years at Neon IGA, and was a memberof The Sons of the American Legion.  

     Kenny was preceded in death by his father:  Everett Kenneth Sexton Jr.

   Mr. Sexton is survived by his mother: Edith Hollon of Ashville, North Carolina; one daughter: Veronica June Sexton ofMayking, Kentucky; one son:  Logan Sexton of Neon, Kentucky; one sister: Toni Bentley of Jackhorn, Kentucky; and one nephew: Shane Bentley of Princeton, Indiana; along with a host of otherfamily and many friends to mourn his passing.

  Dolores Freida Tackett ,age 87, of  Bean Station, Tennessee  passed from this  life on  March 27, 2017 at her  residence. She was born on February 27, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Calvin and Gertrude Rank Meirthew. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting.

     George Jerry Burke ,age 63, of  Kona, Kentucky  passed from this  life  on March 21, 2017 at his daughter’s residence in Neon, Kentucky. He was born on March 23, 1953 in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Jack Burke and Mary Lou Bentley Burke. He was a mechanic, coal minerand carpenter, who enjoyed remodeling homes. He wanted to stay busy, working with his hands. He loved spending time with his grandbabies, family and friends.  George had a nickname foreveryone.

    Mr. Burke was preceded in death also by his first wife, Madonna Burke; two brothers: Raymond Burke and Jimmy Burke; onesister: Betty Burke.

   He is survived by his ex-wife, Petrissia Ann Regalado, of Gallatin, Tennesse; for whom he cared deeply; five daughters:Betty(Jeff) Carter of Gallatin,Tennessee; Mary (Sergio) Regalado-Nunez of Gallatin, Tennessee; Georgena (Shannon) Branham of McRoberts, Kentucky; Julia (Cacien ‘C’) Burke Phoenix of Neon, Kentuckyand Nancy Beltran of Bethpage, Tennessee; eighteen grandchildren and several other extended family members, who  George helped to raise throughout his life and considered them to be his ownchildren and grandchildren ; he also is survived by three brothers: Paul Burke of Jenkins, Kentucky; John Fleming of Mayking, Kentucky and Henry Fleming of McRoberts, Kentucky; along with a host ofother family and many friends to mourn his passing.

   Douglas Andrew Mullins , age 73, of Luray, Virginia passed from this life on Wednesday-March 8, 2017 at theWinchester Valley Regional Hospital of Winchester, Virginia.  He was born on June 30, 1943 in Jenkins , Kentucky to the late Clarence Mullins  and Alice Haynes Mullins.  Mr. Mullinswas an avid coin collector and an antiques enthusiast. He loved his family very much and kept in touch with them every day.  He also did a lot of good deeds for his neighbors; such as takingthose with illnesses to the hospital and wherever they needed to go.

   Mr. Mullins was also preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Lou Williams Mullins; one daughter: Tammy Lee Humes; fivebrothers: Arthur Mullins, Clarence Mullins Jr., Raymond Mullins, Estill Mullins and Ray Mullins;  two sisters: Juanita Castle and Ruby Whitaker.

   Edith Wright Davis, 56, passed away at her residence,Tanbark/Signature Heath after a long illness. She is a member of Jenkins United Methodist Church.

     She was born Nov. 3, 1919, in Jenkins, KY, to the late William Henry Wright and Nannie Lou Wright. She waspreceded in death by her beloved husband Carl Stanton Davis (spoiled her rotten) and her sisters Naomi Quick and Martha Schatz and brothers Sam, Wilard, Mack, Creighton, William (Hoolie) andinfant  twin brothers Paul and John.

     Survivors include: nieces, Anita (Joe) Woods, Lexington, KY, Naomi (Bob) Beane, Bowling Green, KY, Martha(Larry) Elswick, Pikeville, KY, Debbie Witt, AL; and nephews, Sam Wright, New Albany, IN, and Nick (Suzi) Wright, Pikevile, KY; one sister-in-law Helen Davis in West VA.; a niece-in-law, Janet Long;and a great niece, Cathy (John) Young, both in PA.; as well as four great nieces and nephews.

     Edith was an accountant in Washington DC for many years. After retirement, she moved to Florida. She was anavid golfer and competed in many golf tournaments winning Club Championships many times and made 7 holes-in-one, the last at age 82. Watching pro football and pro golf were her winter love. All ofthe young nephews loved to discuss football with her. She made a trip to Kansas City Chiefs game, in her late eighties, to watch her young great-great niece perform with the Chiefs Cheerleaders. Thatwas her last long road trip.

     Her caregivers loved her and she loved them as well. Thanks to Mary, Nancy and Virdie for your dedication andcare. Also, we would like to thank Dr. John Hobbs, Hospice, and the staff at Tanbark.

    Funeral service will be March 11 at Carty Funeral Home in Jenkins, KY. Visitation is at 11:00 a.m. and the service at1:00 p.m. Internment at Jenkins-Payne Gap Cemetery, Payne Gap, KY, followed by food at the United Methodist Church, Main St., Jenkins, KY.     Neneveh Bug Yonts, age 69, of  Rutledge, Tennessee passed from this life on Wednesday-March 1,2017 at Morristown-Hamblin Hospital in Morristown, Tennessee.  He was born on August 24, 1947 in Fleming , Kentucky to the late Harold Lloyd Yonts and Daisy Louise Pass Yonts. Bug was a retiredcoal miner. He had great love for the Lord. He also loved preaching and fishing.

   Mr. Yonts is survived by his loving wife, Sherry LaDonne Yonts  of Rutledge, Tennessee; three sons: Ernie Yonts ofNeon, Kentucky,  Neil Yonts of Neon, Kentucky and Tommy Yonts of Greenville, Tennessee; one brother: Roy (Linda) Yonts of Harrogate, Tennessee; three grandchildren; Sydney, Autumn, and Samantha;three great-grandchildren: Ava-Lee, Pacyn, and Easton; also  a host of other family and many friends to mourn his passing.

   A memorial service will be held on Saturday-March 4, 2017 at the Seco Freewill Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, with Evangelist Tim Amburgey andothers officiating.  Inurnment will be at the Yonts Family Cemetery at 1:00PM in Neon, Kentucky.

    April Kay Yonts Elkins age 56, of  Jenkins, Kentucky passedfrom this life on Monday- February 27, 2017 at her residence in Jenkins, Kentucky.  She was born on April 15, 1960 in Detroit, Michigan .   April excelled in her field as a registerednurse at Jenkins Community Hospital, where she poured her heart into her patients. She was loved by many.

    April was preceded in death by her father, Donald Yonts and by one sister, Sandy Yonts.

   She is survived by her husband,  George Elkins; mother, Patsy Yonts;three daughters: Alpha Dawn Hall of Centerville, North Carolina; Holly Angela(Derek) Baker of Pikeville, Kentucky and Abigail Rose (Tiffany) Milam of Wheeler AAF, Hawaii; two grandchildren: EmmaBaker, age nine and Allie Baker, age seven; along with a host of other family and many friends to mourn her passing.

   Visitation will be held at the Polly & Craft Funeral Chapel on Wednesday-March 1, 2017 from 6:00 PM to9:00 PM.    Earnest C .Collier, age 54, of  Neon, Kentucky passed fromthis life on Sunday-February 26, 2017 at his mother’s residence in Neon, Kentucky.  He was born on July 24, 1961 in Cincinnatti, Ohio. Earnest had a degree in welding and had worked at a gasstation for a number of years. He also liked to wear camouflage clothing.

     Earnest was preceded in death by his father, Earnest C Collier; and one sister; Kimberly SueCollier.

   Mr. Collier is survived by his mother, Revil Estep of Neon, Kentucky; two daughters: Zoe Collier of Neon Kentucky; andRebecca Lynn Collier of Jenkins, Kentucky; two sons; Hunter Collier of Neon, Kentucky and Cody Franklin of Whitesburg, Kentucky; one sister: Ann Archer of Neon, Kentucky; along with a host of otherfamily and many friends to mourn his passing.

   Visitation will be held at Carty funeral chapel on Wednesday-March 1, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.  Funeral serviceswill be from the chapel on Thursday-March 2, 2017 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Bill Craft officiating.  Burial will follow in the Bentley Cemetery at Payne Gap, Kentucky.

     Don Bentley, age 79, of  Seco, Kentucky passed from this life on Tuesday-February 21,2017 at the Greg & Noreen Well’s Hospice Center of Hazard, Kentucky.  He was born on November 23, 1937 in McRoberts, Kentucky to the late Noah Bentley and Minerva Collins Bentley.  Hewas a member of the Seco Freewill Baptist Church.

    Don was also preceded in death by one son, Michael Keith Bentley; two daughters: Belinda Sturgill and Donna JeanBentley; one brother, Wade Bentley and by one sister, Irene Burns.

   Mr. Bentley is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Jean Peace Bentley; one daughter:  Teresa Ann BentleyMcCall of Seco, Kentucky; two brothers: Worley Bentley of Erlanger, Kentucky and LeRoy Bentley of Newport, Kentucky; two sisters: Faye Bentley of Arkansas and Christine Sass of Indiana; ninegrandchildren: Tabitha, Jacqueline, Missy, Jessie, Ricky, Melanie, Josh, Alexis and Bub; seventeen great grandchildren; along with a host of other family and many friends to mourn hispassing.

   Visitation will be held at the Carty funeral chapel in Neon on Wednesday-February 22, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel on Thursday-February 23, 2017 at 12:00 Noon; with Pastor Jeff Slone officiating.

   Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine, Kentucky.

   James F. “Chum” Tackett ,of  Booneville, Kentucky and Jenkins, Kentucky  passed away peacefully on February 17, 2017 after a long illness. James was born on December 31, 1941; being seventy- five years old. 

    James  was preceded in death by his parents: Frank Harvey Tackett and Leitha Ray Tackett;  five brothers:Grant Tackett, Billy Tackett, Donald Tackett, Grayson Tackett and Thurman Tackett ; two sisters: Lexie Ambrose and Patricia Persinger.

   Mr. Tackett is survived by his loving wife of almost fifty-two years, Juanita Jean (Webb) Tackett; one daughter, KimberlyJean (Sonny) Price of Booneville, Kentucky; one son, James Harvey (Jan) Tackett of Owingsville, Kentucky;  seven grandchildren: Jacob Addison of Booneville, Kentucky, Trevor Addison ofBooneville, Kentucky, Jordan (Misty) Tackett of Uniontown, Kentucky; Jared (Mary) Tackett of Sweet Briar, Virginia, Jonah Tackett of Owingsville, Kentucky, Blake Price of Lexington, Kentucky andBrooke Price of Lexington, Kentucky; three great grandchildren: Koby, Reece and Cash; three sisters: Dorsey Ray Smallwood of Lexington, Kentucky, Selena Sue Gilbert of Lily, Kentucky and Mary NellFrazier of Marion, Ohio; one brother, Jack Tackett of Hendersonville, North Carolina ; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

   James was a loving father, papaw, husband, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend.  His greatest joy above all, washis family.  James had many talents: from barbering, to magistrate, to mayor, to helping those in need, being administrator of Golden Year’s Rest Home for thirty-five years, to being the biggestCleveland Browns fan. But above all, was James’ Christian faith and that his journey hasn’t ended; it’s just begun.  And for those that knew him, he was truly a blessing.

  Don Edward Shepherd ,age 71, of  McRoberts, Kentucky  passedfrom this  life  on  February 13, 2017 at the Appalachain Regional Hospital of Whitesburg, Kentucky. He was born on February 24, 1945 in Whitesburg, Kentucky to the late Alex Shepherd and Edna Kiser Shepherd. He was a member of  the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church for over forty years.

    Mr. Shepherd was preceded in death also by one son, Douglas Dewayne Shepherd; three brothers: Bob Shepherd, J.L.Shepherd and Doug Shepherd; three sisters: Sue Mullins, Claudette Bentley and Brenda Anderson. 

   Mr. Shepherd is survived by his loving wife of almost fifty-three years, Jerrie Shepherd; two sons: Don Edward Shepherd Jr.of Lexington, Kentucky and David Allen Shepherd of Elkhorn City, Kentucky; one daughter, Donna Sue (Danny) Branham of McRoberts, Kentucky; two sisters: Frona Whitaker of Newport, Kentucky and TwinkleNoble of Dunham, Kentucky; six grandchildren: Logan Chase Shepherd, Layton Allen Shepherd, Rylan David Shepherd, Andrew (Katie) Branham, Kayla (Jake) Newsom and Hailey Shepherd; one great grandson,Weston Isaiah Newsom; along with a host of other family and many friends to mourn his passing.

    Paul Ronnie “Rodney” Prince, age 59, of Deane, Kentucky passed from this life  on Monday -January 23, 2017 at his residence. He was born on January 28, 1957 in Whitesburg, Kentucky to his parents, Paul Prince and Etta Delph Prince.  

  He was preceded in death by one sister,  Carolyn Tackett.

   Other than by both parents,  Mr. Prince  is survived by two sons: Paul Allen (Andrea) Prince of Johnson City,Tennessee and Franklin James (Cassidy) Prince of Deane, Kentucky; two sisters: Patricia (Richard) Adams of Isom, Kentucky and Debra Louise Cummings of West Chester, Ohio; a host of nieces andnephews; along with other family and friends. 

   Visitation service will be held on Thursday-January 26, 2017 at the Hemphill Baptist Church from 6:00 to 9:00 PM; with PastorDanny Hurst officiating.

   On January 22, 2017, Neva Joy Carrico McCarty fellpeacefully to sleep in the arms of Jesus, surrounded by loved ones at home.

Neva Joy Carrico was born April 17, 1937, in a log cabin in Arkansas nearSouthwest City, MO.  Other than a certain young man named Winston, Neva's first love was nursing.  She graduated from the RN program at Muskogee (OK) Baptist Hospital, shortly aftermarrying Winston McCarty on November 22, 1957.  Over the next several decades, she shared her loving spirit as a pediatric nurse and a school nurse in Tulsa, and in a health department and twodoctor's offices in Kentucky; the friendships formed during her 16 years in diabetic counseling at Dr. Brenda Baker's office in Neon, KY, were very precious to her.  She also served as thebookkeeper for KMAC Manufacturing and later The McCarty's Barn Antiques, two family businesses Winston founded in Oklahoma.  In 1982, she followed God's calling for her family, and moved withthem from Oklahoma to Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Pineville, KY, where she earned a bachelor's degree in religious education in 1986.  After 3 years of ministry in Licking River, KY,she and Winston began their nearly 30 year ministry to the residents of Letcher County, KY. 

Many who knew her said that she was the most loving and caring person they'dever known.  She enjoyed writing poetry, reading and studying God's word, crafting, reading books, and playing piano; however, she spent most of her "free time" serving others.  She managedthe finances and donor relations for East Letcher Ministries, helping to provide food, diapers, and other necessities for over 1000 people every month.  Neva was a prayer warrior, spending hoursevery day talking to God, praying with her long-distance prayer partner, and coordinating a multi-state prayer circle.  She taught children's Sunday School in most of the churches they attended,and often sang in choirs; she enjoyed singing in or occasionally directing cantatas, and was even known to write the script for one or two!  She provided transportation to doctor appointments(sometimes all the way to Lexington!), helped homebound friends with medical or household tasks, and more.  Whatever someone needed and no matter who they were, she would willingly and joyfullyserve--and as always, she was praying for them!

Neva is survived by H. Winston McCarty, her sweetheart for 65 years and husbandfor 59; her sons, Phillip Kale McCarty of Somerset, KY, and Seth Alan (Bonnie) McCarty of Murfreesboro, TN; her grandchildren, Nicole (Jeremy) McCarty McQueary, Jeremy (Angela) McCarty, Emily(Anthony) McCarty Patterson, and Rebecca McCarty, all of Somerset, KY, Brianna McCarty of Lexington, KY, Sam McCarty and Bradie McCarty of Murfreesboro, TN; and 3 great-grandchildren, Lydia McQueary,Dominic McCarty, and Oonagh McQueary of Somerset, KY. She is also survived by a very special Goddaughter, Diane Honchel, and the Honchel family.

       Glatha  Mae (Collins) Houk, age 84, of  Kona, Kentucky passed from this life on Monday – January 23, 2017 at her  residence in Kona, Kentucky.  She was born on August  1, 1932 in Kona,Kentucky to the late Jody Kincer and Mabel (Cecil) Kincer.

     Glatha was also preceded in death by her first husband of twenty-two years, Ralph Collins; her second husband oftwenty-six years, Bill Houk; two grandchildren: Chrissy Renea Potter and Brandon Scott Collins.

   She is survived by one daughter, Francine (Gary) Potter of Kona Kentucky; two sons, Donald (Debra) Collins of Deane, Kentuckyand Ronald (Joan) Collins of Rutland, Ohio.

     Mrs. Houk is also survived by seven grandchildren:  Christy (Collins) Hitchcock, Gary Ray Potter, KevinCollins,  Melissa (Collins) Tackett, Kimberly (Potter) Collins, Joshua Collins and Justin Shane Collins;  six great grandchildren: Cheyenne Hitchcock Green, Dylan Potter, Ethan Slone,MaShaya Tackett, Ryker Reynolds and Amarah Reynolds; two step-great grandchildren: Jessica Adams and Candice Collins; two special friends: Shelia Collins and Hailey Stidham; also a host of otherfamily and many friends.

    Glatha was saved and baptized at Hemphill Baptist Church. She was a person of great accomplishment, who didn’t allowbeing deaf to limit her quality of life.

     Gary Everette “Razor” Duncan, age 60, of  Millstone, Kentucky passed from this life onTuesday-January 17, 2017 at his residence.  He was born on April 10, 1956 in Norton, Virginia to the late Everette Ernest Duncan, Jr. and Hazel Morene Seals Duncan.  He attended the HaymondFreewill Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion and  was an avid horseshoe player.

    Gary was also preceded in death by one brother, Roy L. Duncan.

   Mr. Duncan is survived by three daughters:  Jessica (David) Creech of Payne Gap, Kentucky, Satannah (Jody) Fleming ofKona, Kentucky and Felicia Sargent of Virginia; four brothers: Ezekiel E. (Edna) Duncan of Paradise Valley, California, Allen F. Duncan of Neon, Kentucky, Johnny D. Duncan of Elizabethtown, Kentuckyand Tommy W. (Kathy) Duncan of Jenkins, Kentucky; four sisters: Hazel E. Aleccia of Neon, Kentucky, Billie J.      Macy Bolen, age 55, of  Bevinsville, Kentucky passed from this life on Wednesday- January11, 2017 at the Greg And Noreen Wells Hospice Center of Hazard, Kentucky.  She was born on March 6, 1961 in Appalachia, Virginia to the late Lloyd Huff and Easter Dixon Huff.   She wasa loving mother and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church.

    Macy was also preceded in death by three brothers, Muncy Huff, A.P. Huff and Randall Huff.

   She is survived by her loving husband, Harold Bolen; four sons, Cody Huff, Levi Bolen, Carl Bolen and Chad Bolen all ofBevinsville, Kentucky; five brothers, Truman Huff of  Cowan, Kentucky, Darrell (Roxanne) Huff  of Neon, Kentucky, Archie Huff of  Cowan, Kentucky, Maynard Huff of  Cowan, Kentuckyand Roy (Shelia) Huff of Neon, Kentucky; three sisters, Vertie Mae Sturgill of Kingscreek, Kentucky, Lois Smith of Sandlick, Kentucky and Alice Faye Burke of Cowan, Kentucky; along with a host ofother family and many friends to mourn her passing.

  Opal Jean Williams, age 84, ofMcRoberts, Kentucky passed from this life  on  January 1, 2017 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital of Whitesburg, Kentucky. She was born on June 24, 1934 in Whiteside, Georgia to the lateMelvin Barnett and Nettie Pearl Clouse Barnett. She worked several years with the Letcher County Senior Citizen’s Program.  She also loved her eight puppies very much.

  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Williams and by her brother, James Robert “Bob” Barnett, I.

    Mrs. Williams is survived by her uncle, Randall Smith of Cincinnatti, Ohio; three nieces; four nephews; a host of greatnieces and great nephews; along with many beloved friends to mourn her passing.
